OOOOO this sounds very explicit...
To CULLEN its fulfilment of his sensory needs...
To Nana...at home ALONE its okish...
BUT A NASTY thought ran thru her head...the other day...and she bounced it off me...
what happens when we have visitors...
What am I talking about...
Well our little sensory seeking boy...desires the feel and touch of anybody's skin...more especially
his Nana's skin...so what happens on occasion is that...
She sits on the couch....and with in seconds gets accosted by our Horsie who proceeds with great effort and agility to pull her top/skirt/dress/clothes up, and rub his skin up against her skin...
his front to her back...and smiles with delight...he gets what he needs and runs off
NOW however cute this may seem...it can be a tad bashful (embarrassing) for our Nana.
Just this week...Nana went all a flush...with daddy in the room because Cully needed his sensory skin fix...
WHAT TO DO....
MMMMMM
I think the Croll COVE should be declared a NUDIST COLONY...
So we all fit in...
Naked Nana's, Mommy's, Daddy's, Cullen's and Jada's along with any visitors....
Prepare yourselves friends and family...
Beau Brummel has nothing on us
LOL
LIVE NOW - NO OPPORTUNITIES WASTED!!! LIVE in the NOW!
Every day more and more children in South Africa are born with Autism.
Cullen was born 15 September 2006...
Children with Autism dont show emotion, dont make eye contact, dont play, dont interact, often have problems with Speech and fine motor control...
Cullen continues to challenge himself and conquer all of this...
The Challenge - SPEECH and FINE MOTOR CO-ORDINATION, MORE PLAY, MORE INTERACTION...
Follow our journey, our challenge, our triumph, our lives...

CHANGES CHANGES CHANGES GOODIE
So its been faaaar too long a silence from me.
Horsie and ladybug just sprouting in front of me and there is a small part of me that is SAD that they growing
so quick and flourishing so beautifully but its also so wonderful to celebrate their milestones...even my Horsie who is 6 and we taking tiny tiny steps forward..they are steps forward.
Onto the CHANGES...
We will be taking our Horsie out of Wiggles and squiggles the angel school with angel teachers and trying a one-on-one approach.
He will be at home with a caregiver who will spend her time focusing on two main areas...toileting and using the ipad as a communication tool. WE NEED no let me rephrase WE WANT more from our Horsie...so we will be stretching his challenges...even if its bit by bit.
I will also be enrolling him in some intensive short ABA programmes in the year.
As I type this...a sense of excitement...anticipation...possibility...is bouncing in me...like Tiger from Winnie the Pooh...its a WILD feeling...a feeling of tackling a territory not quite known to us...but one that is filled with amazing opportunities and a LIFE that we will be pushing to reach NEW GREATER FANTASTIC heights.
You know this process is NOT about RECOVERY everyone is always talking about RESCUING or RECOVERY children who are autists...for me more than anything its about ACQUISITION!!!
Acquiring life skills, Horsie's ability to communicate his needs, wants desires, about being able to care of his big galoot self, dressing undressing, feeding, toileting - the very basics that most moms take for granted...
Not to be morbid...but to be real here...I NEED him to have these skills...for when I AM GONE for when he is ready to LIVE on his own...and contribute to society in any meaningful manner he chooses, and oh boy does he do that already...he just doesnt realise it yet.
SO just keep swimming just keep swimming as Dory said from NEMO....
2013 cant wait to see your enchanting brilliance.
